Fried Mixed Vegetables

Vegetables are boring food. It doesn't taste as good as seafood or meat. But vegetables plays an important part in our lives. I have tried many methods of making these vegetables interesting but nothing seem to work at all. I have the opportunity to visit Thailand recently and I notice that in Thailand, they do not use salt. Instead of salt, they prefers soy sauce or fish sauce. Further, Thai dish are mostly sweet. They add sugars in their dish, which makes it very yummy. So I decided to try to cook my vegetables with these ingredients. And I love it. It is something different and I am sharing it here with you guys. I hope you will enjoy this recipe like I do.

  • Chicken breast meat
  • Finely chopped garlics
  • Oil
  • Oyster sauce
  • Light soy sauce
  • Sugar
  • Vegetable of your choice
  • Ground pepper
  1. Heat up some oil in a wok for frying.
  2. Cook the chicken breast meat.
  3. When the chicken breast meat is almost done, pour in the vegetables.
  4. Then pour in the rest of the ingredients.
  5. Serve warm with rice.

Hot Dogs

Whenever I go to Ikea, I would almost always patronise their restaurant as I am a huge fan of their hot dog buns. Ikea only charges RM3 for a hot dog set which comes with a refillable soft drink. As sausages are very much available in almost every supermarkets around town I decided to try to make my very own hot dog. This way, I get to put in more ingredients. Below is what I use to make my very own hot dog meal.

Ingredients:
  • Hot dog
  • Chilli sauce
  • Mustard
  • Salad
  • Sliced Onions
  • Mayonnaise
  • Cheese
  • Hot dog bun
Steps:
  1. Pour very little water on a pan and place the hot dogs and boil them for about 1 minute.
  2. When the hot dogs is cooked, remove them from the pan.
  3. Place everything on the hot dog bun.

Fried Omelette

You may use any ingredients you like when cooking an omelette. However, make sure that the ingredients are cut into small pieces as eggs cooks really fast. The usual ingredients many uses are sliced sausages, bacons, green peppers, chillies and onions. You may use one or more of these ingredients but do remember not to put too much. Follow the following steps to cook yourself an omelette.

Omelette

Ingredients:

  • 2 Eggs
  • sliced sausages
  • green peppers - sliced into tiny cubes
  • onions - also sliced into tiny cubes
  • chillies - sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • oil
Steps:
  1. Beat the eggs in a bowl.
  2. Heat up the oil in a non-stick pan.
  3. Pour the eggs in the pan.
  4. Add all the ingredients and wrap it all up with the egg.
  5. Make sure that the omelette is cooked on each side for at least one minute and then remove from the heat.

Tom Yum Goong - Thai Spicy and Sour Prawn Soup

Last week I went to Phuket Island, an island located south west of Thailand. Phuket is very popular and it has visitors coming all over the world. We were informed by our guide that the best time to visit Phuket is from November to January as during these months, there will be very little rain as compared to the other months. Phuket is famous for its beaches and the other smaller islands around this area. Two of the main attraction here is Phi Phi Island and James Bond Island. Island hopping is not all you can do over here, you may also join the cooking class which is conducted daily by some restaurants and hotels. I had the opportunity to join a class and learned how to cook Tom Yum Goong, a spicy and sour prawn soup from scratch.

Ingredients:

  • Prawns
  • 1 1/2 cup of Water
  • Galangal
  • Lemongrass
  • Kaffir lime leaves
  • Thai shallot
  • Small green chillies
  • 2 spoons Fish sauce
  • Sugar
  • Lime juice
  • Chili paste

Steps:

  1. Boil the water and add the chili paste.
  2. Mix them together and add the fish sauce, sugar, lime juice and all the other ingredients.
  3. Stir until the soup is boiling, then add the prawns.
  4. Once the prawns are cooked, serve it warm with rice.
