Chinese Fried Green Beans

Ingredients:

  • 500g fresh green beans
  • oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • rice wine
  • chicken stock 1/2 cube

Cooking Steps:

  1. Heat up oil in a wok. Then add minced garlic.
  2. Add in the green beans and stir.
  3. Add in salt, rice wine and chicken stock and thereafter water.
  4. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes and then serve warm.

Red Pepper

Ingredients:

  • 4 red bell peppers
  • olive oil flavored cooking spray

Cooking Steps:

  1. Heat the oven to 220C degrees
  2. Heat oven to 450F degrees.
  3. Wash the peppers and cut in half.
  4. Remove seeds and stems then place the skin side up and coated with olive oil spray.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes or so, until skin of pepper is black.
  6. Remove them and wait for it to cool down. Then peel the skin off.

Prawns with Butter and Lemon Juice

If you are cooking prawns, make sure that you clean it thoroughly. Remember to devein it because you wouldn't want to get all those dirty vein into your system. Choose the prawns which hasn't turn white and doesn't appear mushy. Prawns which are fresh comes off very easily from it's shell. I am going to share here how to cook prawns with butter and lemon juice. It is advisable here for you to use sea water prawns as river prawns doesn't really goes very well with this style.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g green prawns
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Peel and devein prawns leaving tails on.
  2. In a small bowl combine lemon juice, crushed garlic, salt and pepper.
  3. In a heavy based skillet, melt butter and olive oil on a medium heat.
  4. Once butter has melted add prawns and garlic mixture and increase heat to ensure prawns are cooked quickly.
  5. Toss prawns and mixture for 1-2 minutes or until prawns turn pink.
  6. Add coriander and toss for a further 30 seconds.
  7. Reduce heat. Add cream and stir through.
  8. Serve with jasmine rice.

Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF)

The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival is back. It features the some of the best restaurants in Malaysia. The event which runs for about a month opens it's doors for the public for food lovers to have a taste on some of the food from these restaurants. All food can be purchased by using tokens. For those who would like to purchase the tokens online, you will get a discount of 5%. Each booklet consist of 10 tokens which can be purchased on the spot for only RM50.00. Garlic Bread

Ingredients:/p>

  • 1/2-1 cup margarine
  • 3 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Cooking Steps:

  1. Microwave margarine in medium glass bowl for about 40 seconds or until about halfway melted.
  2. Mix in all ingredients, using a fork.
  3. Spread mixture over bread.
  4. Place on baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes at 450, until top is golden brown.
